Supporting the Carbon Summit
Arizona State University hosted the 2023 Carbon Summit last November. The two-day event focused on how to meet climate goals and promote a balanced carbon future.
More than 25 speakers and panelists spoke about ASU’s current sustainability practices and discussed new solutions, helping to drive the agenda for future action. Carbon Summit topics included:
- Circular economies.
- Climate adaptation.
- Energy transitions.
- Food systems.
- Sustainability.
University Sustainability Practices provided a $5,000 Sustainability Initiatives Revolving Fund grant to finance the successful summit. SIRF provides funding for sustainability projects and engagement opportunities across ASU campuses. The funds supported essential summit services, including film production, lunch services, signage and video production.
SIRF funding also facilitated the logistical aspects of organizing the summit. It enhanced the overall quality and impact of the event through film production, creating a sustainable and engaging experience for attendees. USP’s support exemplifies SIRF grants’ crucial role in promoting sustainability initiatives across ASU campuses and developing events that contribute to the broader environmental awareness goals and action within the ASU community.
ASU will host the 2024 Carbon Summit on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, during its Campus Sustainability Month.
