Report a Crime

For emergencies call 9-1-1 if you can text if you can’t.

For non-emergency call 480-965-3456 or use LiveSafe.

Emergency vs. Non-Emergency Calls: What’s the Difference?

Knowing when to call 911 and when to use a non-emergency number helps keep emergency lines open for those who truly need immediate help.

Call 911 for Emergencies

Use 911 when someone is in danger or there's an urgent threat to life, health, or property. Examples include:

  • A crime in progress (like a robbery or assault)
  • A fire or explosion
  • Someone is seriously hurt or unconscious
  • You see a car crash with injuries
  • You hear gunshots or see a weapon

Use the Non-Emergency Number for Non-Urgent Situations

Call ASU police department’s non-emergency line when the situation is not life-threatening and doesn’t need an immediate response. Examples include:

  • Reporting a stolen item (after the fact)
  • Noise complaints
  • Vandalism or graffiti discovered later
  • Lost property
  • General questions for the police

Quick tip: If it can wait, it’s probably a non-emergency.
