Tempe campus impacted by city waterline work
A city of Tempe waterline replacement project will take place on Arizona State University’s Tempe campus from May 18 through Aug. 19, 2026. The project will replace underground water infrastructure along sections of Tyler and McAllister malls.
The city has scheduled construction from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m, Monday through Friday, in the following areas:
- Along Tyler Mall, working east from Palm Walk to McAllister Avenue
- Along McAllister Mall, working south from University Drive to Tyler Mall
Construction crews are expected to work in 500-foot sections. The project will require construction fencing and adjustments to pedestrian and vehicle access. Pedestrians and drivers should expect the following temporary changes to malls and parking lots.
- Lot 46 closure
- Trench plates on pathways
Buildings may experience temporary, planned shutdowns of fire waterline services during construction in July. The project management team will notify those affected in the following areas:
- Engineering Center G
- Engineering Research Center
- Goldwater Center
- ISTB II and Support
- ISTB V
- Noble Science Library
- Physical Sciences Center F
- Psychology Building
- Psychology North
- Research Support Services I
- Tyler Mall Cantina
- Urban Systems Engineering
- Wexler Hall
