Student Union Expansion

Building Information

Arizona State University is enhancing the Polytechnic campus experience through a major expansion and renovation of the Student Union — creating a more dynamic hub for connection, collaboration and community.

The project includes renovation of the existing 32,649-square-foot building and construction of an approximately 68,000-square-foot expansion to the east. The rejuvenated complex will include the following features to support students and staff.

  • Expanded dining options and increased food service capacity
  • Modernized study, lounge and meeting spaces
  • Dedicated areas for student organizations and clubs
  • Enhanced outdoor seating and event spaces
  • Updated campus store
  • New classrooms and offices for student support services and academic programs

Designed to support a growing campus, the Student Union Expansion strengthens the student culture and combines efficient building systems aligned with existing campus infrastructure.

The project will emphasize energy efficiency through high-performance building systems, including upgraded chilled and hot water systems, high-efficiency HVAC systems, LED lighting and advanced data analytics platforms. ASU is targeting LEED Silver certification.

The Student Union Expansion reflects ASU’s commitment to student success with flexible environments that foster belonging, academic achievement and elevate the overall Sun Devil experience.
