Reemployment Program

Supporting your next opportunity at Arizona State University

The ASU Reemployment Program supports ASU employees who are identified as eligible under SPP-216 following a reorganization.

The program helps connect employees with experience, institutional knowledge and skills developed at ASU to opportunities across the university where they can continue to contribute and grow.

Not sure if this applies to you?

ASU identifies eligible employees based on established program requirements. Contact your department’s human resources representative or supervisor if your position was eliminated and you have not received program documentation or instructions.

Your ASU experience has value

Reemployment Program participants bring more than the experience listed in their current position. They also have institutional knowledge, established relationships and transferable skills that can create value across the university — even when a new role is not a one-to-one match with their current work.

If you receive notification of eligibility

If you receive official notice that you are eligible for the reemployment program, contact the Office of Human Resources Talent Acquisition team to schedule a consultation.

How the program works

Meet with Talent Acquisition. Follow the instructions in your eligibility notice to schedule your meeting with OHR Talent Acquisition. During this initial consultation, you and a Talent Acquisition partner will discuss your experience, resume, career interests and what you’re looking for in your next opportunity.

Tell us what’s important to you. Talent Acquisition will ask about the types of roles you would consider, your work history, education and credentials, target salary range, campus preferences and other factors that can help identify potential opportunities.

Review and evaluate the opportunities. When Talent Acquisition identifies a potential match, they will send you an opportunity to review. You will decide whether you are interested and follow the next steps as provided by the Talent Acquisition team.

Receive priority consideration. If you meet the required and other relevant qualifications for the position, the hiring department will reach out to schedule an interview.

Keep exploring. If the hiring department does not select you after an interview, you remain in the program, and Talent Acquisition may continue to consider you for other qualifying opportunities during your eligibility period.

Prepare for your consultation

Before meeting with a Talent Acquisition team member, review your resume and consider the types of roles that align with your experience, goals and interests.

Be prepared to discuss:

  • Work experience and qualifications
  • Transferable skills from current or previous roles
  • Career interests and professional goals
  • Upcoming dates when you may be unavailable

To support the process:

  • Tailor your application materials to each position you apply for.
  • Check your personal email regularly.
  • Review opportunities promptly.
  • Meet application and response deadlines.
  • Prepare for interviews.
  • Inform Talent Acquisition in advance if you will be unavailable.

Continue your job search

The program may not identify every position you qualify for. Keep visiting ASU’s career site for relevant opportunities and apply to those that interest you.

Important program guidelines

Approach each conversation and interview professionally. Prepare in advance, arrive on time and respond promptly to Talent Acquisition and hiring teams.

Notify OHR Talent Acquisition at least one week in advance if you will be unavailable to interview. You will be removed from the Reemployment Program if you decline two interviews, two job offers, or a combination of one interview and one job offer for comparable positions.
