Professional development

Leadership and Workforce Development supports the professional development of ASU staff and faculty throughout their employment at ASU from onboarding to training and recognition through retirement. We offer a variety of resources and consulting to help employees at each level of their career grow and learn new skills, tools and approaches to thrive at ASU and in their careers. 

Every ASU employee is eligible for at least 16 hours of professional development training every year.

Services  

Career EDGE 
ASU employees can access more than 14,000 online and in-person ASU and LinkedIn courses for mandatory job training and professional development.

Custom team training
We provide custom in-person training for departments and groups by request based on staffing availability. Training topics include interpersonal skills, time management and leadership.
DiSC® assessment
The assessment tool provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and to adapt their behaviors with others. The goal is to improve work relationships, productivity, leadership roles, teamwork and communication. A material fee applies.  

EchoSpan 360 assessment  
Our team facilitates the use of 360 assessments and reports to individual leaders and prospective leaders. Contact LWD@asu.edu to request a consultation to customize a 360 assessment. A material fee applies. 

Employee recognition programs
Our programs promote and celebrate excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, creative expression, peer recognition, collaboration across departments and disciplines, use-inspired outcomes and community spirit.

Lending Library 
Our online library is available to all ASU employees. Access more than 350 titles related to management, leadership and work-life strategies. 

New employee orientation 
Our team helps new hires learn about public service policies and employee benefits when at the New American University on orientation day
