Peer support for a lasting impact
Join the community of ASU employees helping colleagues navigate grief and find a full life after loss. Through an in-depth look at grief, you’ll learn how to hold space for others walking a similar path.
Becoming a GrieveWell at ASU peer supporter is a meaningful opportunity for personal growth and service. Peer supporters participate in 12 hours of professional development training that combines educational and interactive learning about grief with thoughtful reflection on their own experiences of loss.
What to expect
- Participate in a 12-hour professional development training.
- Provide one-to-one peer support no more than once a week for up to 12 months.
- Support a grieving employee virtually or in person, outside of work hours.
- Partake in monthly continuing educational consultations with a licensed mental health professional.
- Receive support and check-ins from the GrieveWell at ASU team.
Peer support training
A central part of the GrieveWell at ASU training is the opportunity to share personal stories in a small, supportive cohort. Through these often meaningful and vulnerable conversations, along with guided reflection between sessions, you will deepen your understanding of your grief and build the confidence and skills needed to offer compassionate, empathetic support to participants.
The training is held over four three-hour sessions, with follow-up activities between each class. Our first virtual training will take place Sept. 8, 10, 15 and 17, with the anticipation of beginning peer support services in fall 2026.
