Promoting sustainable habits
The Zero Waste department is piloting new waste management practices in the University Services Building and the Rob and Melani Walton Center for Planetary Health. This program will launch on Sept. 2, 2025, on the Tempe campus.
Reducing food waste
Meet the Mill bin
Mill bins –– a new type of compost bin –– are being tested in select rooms at the Rob and Melani Walton Center for Planetary Health, Biodesign Institute and University Services Building.
Mill bins offer a cleaner and more efficient solution. Food scraps, including small bones and avocado pits, are accepted –– liquids, packaging, large bones and nonfood items are not.
Delicious coffee without the waste
All ASU departments can now participate in the Reusable K-Cup® Program. This follows a successful 2024 pilot in the University Services Building with over 300 employees on the Tempe campus.
View the Reusable K-Cup Checklist to learn more about implementing the program in your work area. Submit a Reusable K-Cup Program interest form to get started.
