Shared Fleet program

The easy way to travel sustainably

The ASU Shared Fleet program offers cost-effective, eco-friendly transportation for official university business. Located at the University Services Building on the Tempe campus, this service supports ASU's sustainability goals and offers:

  • No up-front costs
  • Pay only for the transportation you use
  • No vehicle insurance, tags or maintenance expenses

Who is eligible?

The Shared Fleet is available to all employees, student workers and registered volunteers who drive for official university business and have completed the Authorized Driver Program

The following is required to drive a Shared Fleet vehicle:

Please note: Authorized Driver training may take several weeks to process. Passengers are allowed in the vehicle if they are on official ASU business. No children or animals are permitted, except for service dogs.

Vehicle reservations

Benefits of the Shared Fleet program include:

  • Vehicles are available 24/7 on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserve for immediate use or up to six months in advance.
  • Cancel reservations at any time. Vehicles not picked up within 30 minutes of the scheduled time will be automatically canceled.

Download the Launch Mobility app on the App Store or Google Play to book, modify and cancel reservations. Email the Shared Fleet program to sign up for a Launch Mobility account.

Additional information

  • All tools, cargo, luggage, etc., must go in the vehicle’s trunk or bed. Vehicles are only available for university business and cannot be taken home.
  • Shared Fleet vehicles can be parked in parking structures or at a parking space with green markings. Drivers or their departments are responsible for any non-ASU parking facility fees.
  • If reserving a vehicle for more than one day — or traveling more than 150 miles — Fleet Services will provide a Voyager Card and information on how to use charging stations during your trip.

Returning a vehicle

All vehicles must be returned to their original location by the date and time stated. Late returns will be billed at the normal hourly rate. When returning your vehicle, follow these steps based on the vehicle type:

  • Electric vehicles and carts: Plug the vehicle into the charging cord at its designated parking space.
  • Non-electric vehicles: Return it to the parking space where you picked it up.

Please do the following before ending your reservation

  • Remove and properly dispose of all trash and recycling
  • Turn off all lights
  • Lock the vehicle
  • Report mechanical defects or damage to the Fleet Manager in the damages section of the return vehicle survey
  • For carts and vehicles with keys, return the keys to their original lock box, then end your reservation. For vehicles without a key, simply end the reservation.

Drivers are personally responsible for any infractions on or off campus. Refer to FIN 501 for employee travel and vehicle use.
