Health Screenings

Arizona State University benefits-eligible employees can receive a free 30-minute health screening per calendar year. Bring your ASU ID and health insurance card to your screening. 

Appointments are required. Visit ASU Events for available free health and hearing screenings. The following tests and measurements are included in the free health screening:

  • Blood pressure.
  • Blood work: Coronary risk ratio, fructosamine, glucose, HDL, LDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides, VLDL.
  • Body mass index
  • Height, weight and waist measurements.  
  • Hemoglobin A1c is for those with diabetes and at high risk.
  • Osteoporosis bone density screening. Recommended for men and women age 40 and older and those under 40 who are postmenopausal. 
  • Prostate-specific antigen, PSA. Recommended for men age 40 and older.

Fasting for eight hours before the venous draw is required. Water and medications are permitted. Employees receive results in the mail within 7 to 10 business days. This event is HIP-endorsed, a program available to benefits-eligible State of Arizona employees. Comprehensive blood helps determine the health of many organs and body systems.

Fee-based screenings 

Additional tests are available for as low as a $20 copay. Cash, check or credit card is accepted. Allergy test results are delivered by mail within two to three weeks.

Arizona desert and mountain panel + food comprehensive panel $310 Combination test for 48 Immunoglobin E inhalant allergens and 20 common food allergens.
Blood count $25 Tests for anemia and other conditions.
C-reactive protein $35 Screening to help predict the risk of heart attack.
Food comprehensive panel $125 Tests for 20 common food allergens, including egg white, milk, oats, peanuts, seafood, strawberry, wheat and more. 
SMAC lab profile $20 Blood test includes electrolytes, iron, kidney and liver function, nutrition and more. 
Thyroid panel $28 Test for T3, T4 and T7 to evaluate thyroid function.
Thyroid panel + TSH  $58 Includes thyroid panel and thyroid-stimulating hormone screening.
TSH test $38 Measures thyroid-stimulating hormone levels to evaluate thyroid function.
Vitamin D $48 Test for vitamin D levels.
