Workday training and resources

Workday is ASU’s all-in-one finance, human resources and payroll system, launching Dec. 23, 2024.

Below are Workday resources and a list of required training based on your job role.

 

Resources

Visit Workday to view and download more than 90 job aids and quick reference guides on requesting time off, onboarding new employees, updating your benefits and more.

Workday training

Use the sections below to determine the training you should complete. You can complete most training virtually at your convenience.

Take training

 

All employees

ASU employees should complete the following web-based training:

  1. Introduction to Workday.

     

  2. Attend a Knowledge Byte: Request time off in Workday session or watch it on demand.
  3. Attend a Knowledge Byte: Enter time in Workday session or watch it on demand — only for hourly employees who currently enter time. 

     

  4. Introduction to Reports — this course is recommended, but not required. 

Timekeepers

Attend the Knowledge Byte: Timekeeper session or watch it on demand. This session is for those assigned a Timekeeper role in Workday. Timekeepers support their manager’s time approval responsibilities and must be able to verify employees' time worked or leave requests. Timekeepers receive all time-approval requests in their Workday inbox for employees in their supervisory organization, typically the department they oversee.

 

Supervisors

Those who supervise employees should take web-based training via Career EDGE in this order, being sure any prerequisite courses are completed first.

Managers may not need to take all available training. Users should complete training based on the tasks they perform in their unique managerial role.

Financial Pay Analysts

Employees with this role should take the Payroll Reconciliation Process training. This training reviews the new best practices for payroll reconciliation using the payroll dashboard in Workday. 

Before taking this training, please complete the Time Tracking and Time Reporting training course and any prerequisite Workday HCM training.

Employees who perform payroll redistributions in PeopleSoft should take the Payroll Accounting web-based training via Career EDGE.
