ID Card

Welcome to ASU Sun Devil Card Services

ASU requires all students, employees and qualifying university affiliates to obtain an official ASU ID card. Except for eligible new employees, the ASU ID card is issued for a fee of $25. Online students must have an approved photo on file with Sun Devil Card Services.

All photos must be submitted online; there are currently no in-office photo services.

Your ASU ID Card can be used for

  • Official ASU student, faculty and staff ID.
  • Access to academic advising.
  • Access to secure buildings.
  • Access to library material checkouts. 
  • Access to meal plans*.
  • Access to Maroon and Gold Dollars*.
  • Student access to Sun Devil Fitness Complexes
    • Faculty and staff can join for a low monthly fee or access one-time services. 

*Meal plans and Maroon and Gold Dollars are administered by Sun Devil Dining. Call 480-727-DINE.

A $25 fee will be charged for

  • Damaged cards.
  • Job classification changes.
  • Name change.
  • New ID card.
  • Replacement ID card.
  • University Affiliate card for approved university consultants, contractors and vendors. Eligibility is at the discretion of Sun Devil Card Services. All classifications must be correctly reflected in PeopleSoft.

Benefits-eligible employees: Your first ID card fee is waived. The card serves as employee identification and provides door access where needed. Employees receive an ID card at their scheduled New Employee Orientation or Sun Devil Card Services office.

Foundation employees, military faculty and religious affiliates: Your first ID card fee is waived.

Stolen Cards: The $25 ID card fee may be waived if the cardholder presents Sun Devil Card Services staff with a valid police report at the time of the new card request. Reports will not be accepted after a replacement card has been printed. 

Students: Pay by Visa, MasterCard®, or charge to a university student account. Incoming first-time freshman who pay the $300 enrollment deposit will receive their ID card during orientation; there is no additional fee for a card as it is included in the enrollment deposit fee. 

No fee is required for defective cards or retired employees or emeritus staff.

A lost or stolen card must be reported immediately.

First-time freshmen

Students enrolled in their first semester at Arizona State University must upload their photo before receiving an ASU ID card. 

On-campus students

Upload your photo for approval. Once your photo is approved, select a delivery method:

Online | extended-campus students

Online students are required to have an approved photo on file and have the option to purchase an ASU ID Card. Once your photo is approved, have your ID Card mailed if you want to purchase a card.

Replacement card requests do not need a new photo unless your photo is over two years old.
