Garden enhancements provide new opportunities

Explore Garden Commons Updates

The Garden Commons phase two expansion includes exciting new features, such as a peaceful meditation and Zen area, an outdoor event space and expanded garden beds for growing produce.

These enhancements provide new opportunities for collaboration between University Sustainability Practices and Sun Devil Hospitality, allowing fresh, campus-grown produce to be incorporated into meals at the Citrus Dining Hall on the ASU Polytechnic campus. Visitors may also enjoy produce-tasting events that highlight the garden’s offerings.

The new Zen and meditation space offers a tranquil, nature-filled environment for relaxation and stress relief. The area features a natural stream bed, desert-adapted plants and trees, and comfortable seating options, including chairs and benches, designed to foster a peaceful atmosphere.

In addition to these physical updates, the Garden Commons continues to provide produce to the campus community. Students can access fresh produce for free, while employees may purchase it at a minimal cost at the seasonal farm stands. USP donates the excess produce to local food banks throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

These improvements enhance the Garden Commons and create opportunities for increased campus engagement, contributing to USP’s ongoing food reconnection goal of reconnecting people to their food sources.
