ASU employee wins HIP contest

HIP contest winner Kristen Peña holds a boxed Fitbit in an outdoor setting.

Kristen Peña, a program manager at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Learning and Teaching Hub, won a Fitbit for achieving 90,000 points in the 2022 Health Impact Program.

Penã has been participating in HIP since learning about the program at her new employee orientation five years ago. Her colleagues share a Slack channel for HIP, and they participate in step challenges together to earn points towards their yearly $200 incentive.

But Peña's passion for the program goes beyond the 50,000 points required for the maximum monetary incentive, “it’s a great way to create a culture of health and wellness in your unit at ASU and stay motivated,” she said. Looking to 2023, Peña is hoping to beat her previous point goal. She’s also set her eyes on the prizes offered during the upcoming Gnome More Excuses challenge this summer.

Visit the HIP page and learn how to begin working towards the yearly $200 incentive and participate in challenges for more prizes.
