New HSA opt-in and card activation

The university's Health Savings Account is changing from Optum Bank to Inspira Financial in 2026. 

The Arizona Department of Administration is offering an automatic transfer of all personal HSA funds from Optum Bank to Inspira Financial. You can choose to opt in or opt out of this transfer. 

All Optum HSA holders must opt in or opt out of the automatic funds transfer to Inspira Financial by completing the funds transfer consent form before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

Additional considerations: 

• If you opt in, a one-time $20 fee will be deducted from your HSA. The funds transfer to Inspira Financial will be completed Feb. 11. 
• If you opt out, the employer-sponsored Optum HSA will convert to an individual Optum HSA on Feb. 11. Participants will remain responsible for their individual account and may incur a monthly maintenance fee. Contact Optum at 866-610-4839 for the fee schedule. 
• All Optum HSAs will be frozen Feb. 4–10, meaning no deposits or withdrawals will be permitted. 

If you are an Optum HSA Investment Fund holder and want to opt in to the automatic funds transfer to Inspira Financial, you must move your mutual fund investments to cash before 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5 and complete the consent form.

This will allow enough time for an accurate funds transfer, including January dividends.

To activate your Inspira debit card, you will need the last four digits of your member number, which is your Campus ID number. Locate this number in your Workday profile by navigating to Personal in the profile menu and selecting the IDs tab.
