Pre-collect benefits and job end dates
Retirement and resignation dates for faculty and academic professionals
If you are not returning in the fall and do not work during the summer, your last day of employment is May 15 or May 16 — whether academic or fiscal pay schedule. These dates are your termination or retirement effective dates. Fiscal pay contracts will be paid out.
If you are not returning in the fall and do work during the summer, your benefits-eligible academic year position will be placed on a short work break for the summer. Your summer position will then be renewed. Your last day of employment is at the end of your summer position.
Termination dates after May 15 for the following groups require that your summer salary be paid from grant funds or other funding sources using appropriate employee-related expense rates. You must receive approval by May 1 from the provost’s office.
- Continuing-track, continuing-status and multiyear academic professionals.
- Tenure-track, tenured and multiyear faculty.
Resignation or retirement requests received after May 15 will require you to reimburse ASU for any salary paid on your behalf. Failure to make reimbursements in a timely manner will be subject to collections.
Benefits end date
If you are not returning in the fall and do not work during the summer, your benefits end on the last day of the pay period in which May 15 occurs. Your benefits will end sooner if you are terminated before that date.
