Gammage Auditorium is significant as the last non-residential design that Frank Lloyd Wright worked on before his death in 1959, but the building was not completed until 1964. The auditorium is associated with both Wright and Grady Gammage, past president of the University. Gammage directed campus growth following World War II, which culminated in the re-designation of Arizona State Teachers College to Arizona State University, in 1958. This building is expressive of Wright’s theories of architecture and is a masterpiece of circular design.
