EHS training raises awareness of safe work practices, which is vital to preventing work-related injuries and keeping Sun Devils safe.

This webpage will assist with determining your training requirements and provide direct access to Workday Learning for registration, enrollment and transcript history.

Health and Safety Training Determination Tool

Please consult the Training Determination Tool to determine which safety training courses are required and recommended based on the work performed. Use this tool in consultation with your immediate supervisor concerning your work duties to assess and automatically create your training plan. 

Special requests

Submit a special request for aerial lift, forklift, boom truck, hands-on, powered-industrial trucks, special requests for training, or arrange for scheduled training for your group. For more information, contact the EHS training manager at 480-965-1823 or email EHS.

Student access:

To access training in Workday Learning as a student, you must create a Workday Extended Enterprise Learner account. Before requesting access, please read the following.

  1. Use your ASURITE email address: When you create your Workday account, please use your ASURITE email address. 
  2. Record your password: When creating your Workday account, please write down your new password. It is very difficult to reset passwords. If you forget your password, please email Workday Learning to request a password reset. 
  3. Workday user name and passwords: Your user name and passwords will be the ones you create upon registration to Workday Learning. Do not attempt to log in using SSO.

Minors, visitors and volunteers

Visitors and volunteers are welcome to participate in the training offered by EHS. In some cases, ASU sponsors may require it. Non-employee ASU affiliations, including volunteers and visitors, must complete additional steps to obtain sub-affiliate status. Once granted access, you may visit the appropriate training tab to self-enroll.

Students will need to follow the guidance for obtaining access to Workday Learning.

Please submit a ServiceNow ticket if you cannot access the desired training system.  

Department personnel, such as sponsors, managers and volunteer coordinators, should work with the department HR liaison to obtain sub-affiliate and security roles for those who must complete training. The Contract Contingent Worker webpage provides additional guidance. 

Additional forms and information

Volunteers and minors may need additional forms before completing the training. 

Visitors to ASU

  • Instead of completing EHS training, visiting employees or scholars from other universities or organizations may submit equivalent training transcripts from their home university to EHS.

Volunteers at ASU

  • Access the ASU EHS Training Determination Tool to determine the required safety courses and register for them by job function.
  • Volunteers in research labs must receive lab-specific safety training from their sponsors.
  • Volunteer supervisors must initiate the volunteer registration process through the Volunteers website.
  • Volunteers working at the direction of a university employee for official university activity are provided insurance coverage for liability for acts and omissions by state law but not workman’s compensation in compliance with the EHS 705-08: University Volunteer Insurance Coverage policy.

Minors in the laboratory

  • Before making training arrangements, the minor must complete the Request for minor access to ASU buildings or laboratories form to be approved to enter ASU buildings or laboratories.
  • Minors must complete the specified training before entering a laboratory. The specified training is communicated upon completion of the approval process per the EHS 116: Minors in Laboratories policy.
