Advocate and take action to achieve a quality level in the built environment that reflects ASU’s position as a leading academic and research university.
Represent ASU institutional interests in the built environment to support the principles of the New American University.

OUA Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction on planning, architecture, space management, interior design, landscape architecture, historic preservation, classroom conditions, public art and environmental graphic design.
- Manage the efficient and effective utilization of university property resources.
- Provide facilities records and data to support planning, design and reporting needs.
- Proactively identify and advocate for improvements to ASU's built environment to improve aesthetics and functionality.
- Oversee planning, scope and design throughout the life of a capital project.
- Maximize the opportunities for sustainability in the built environment.
- Manage the capital planning process: Identify capital needs, define potential project scope, recommend priorities, and submit for Administration direction.
- Provide planning, scope, design and design support for ASU’s built environment.
- Campus master planning, site planning, space planning, etc.
- Needs assessment, preliminary program, narrative, etc.
- Architecture, landscape architecture, environmental graphics, FFE, etc.
- Data and records management and historic preservation program management
- Manage OUA staff and the selection of external design consultants to provide assigned services
- Develop operating procedures, systems, means and methods to communicate and achieve the above
- Provide prompt, appropriate and quality customer service
