Is there a difference between ASU Alert and Advisory and when would each be used?
Yes, instances when the ASU Alert system would likely be used, include any incident when a person’s life may be in danger or when University services are severely disrupted, and we want to notify the community about the incident. An example could include downed, high-voltage power lines and the system would be used to request that everyone stay clear of the area.
ASU Advisory can be thought of as a tier below ASU Alert. ASU Advisories are sent during situations when life safety is not an issue, but an unexpected event impacts the university. Some examples are a power outage that does not threaten life safety; a building that is closed for the day; or anything that disrupts daily operations.
